Our
class trip to Sevilla was amazing. On the first day, we had time to get
acquainted with the city, and our hotel was very close to many of the monuments
we wanted to visit, so we were able to walk everywhere. In the evening, we went
to a Flamenco show together. It was a small gathering, so we were able to sit
close to the stage. The dancers and musicians were very talented. On the second
day, we were able to explore the Catedral, which is the third-largest in the
world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. My favorite part was the Giralda, which
is the bell tower. We walked up to the top, as there are no stairs, but rather
a ramp that horses were able to ride up. At the top, we were able to see the
whole city on each side of the tower. The views were incredible. We also were
able to see displays of silver brought back from the Americas and the tomb of
Christopher Columbus. After visiting the Catedral, we met up with a tour guide
who took us through the Real Alcázar, which is the royal palace in Sevilla. We
saw the incredible gardens and Moorish architecture that we had just learned
about in class. At night, there was plenty of time to plan our own activities,
and there were many other inexpensive places to visit in the city.
