The
third week in Spain, the third week away from home, and the third week of
experiencing completely different and amazing things! To kick off the week, we
all went to Mérida, Spain, and I have to admit that I loved it. The places that
we visited were so old but so delicately designed, and you could see the
intelligence, compassion, and enthusiasm that people living in Roman times put
into their work. I enjoyed seeing the amphitheater and theater from roman
times, and seeing the intricate details engraved into the buildings was
priceless. Although I had gone to many other places in Spain prior to Mérida,
no other place seemed to take my breath away the same way that this city did.
Along
with going to Mérida, we had another adventure within the parte Antigua of
Cáceres. We explored other areas that we had not yet experienced, one of which
being the museum for Semana Santa. Although it was great to capture some of the
photographs that we did, for me it still did not compare to what I experienced
in Mérida.
At
the end of the week, we were invited to go to La Feria, which is something that
anybody studying abroad in Spain must do. Although there are some similarities
between La Feria in Spain and the fair in the United States, there are also
some amazing differences. Those differences, however, I will not state, since I
do not want to spoil it for those students looking into studying abroad in
Spain in the future.
Along
with all of the excitement from the various adventures this week, there is also
a small ping of the bittersweet knowledge that we will soon be leaving Spain.
This week brought with it the end of the chapters in class, only having
presentations and tests left. There is only one week left to explore new areas
of Cáceres, to visit with our amazing families, and to live the life of a
Spaniard. This is the time when everyone started to ponder about this one
thought: where did the time go?
