Week 3 by Sofía Munguia-Arias

These past seven days have been full of events.  It is our last full week here in Cáceres and it is a bittersweet feeling, to say the least. The entire group took a field trip out to Merida in the beginning of the week and we took a look at the Roman architecture that is famously located there.  It was incredible to be able to see something so old, still standing to this day in such good shape.  It truly does show how successful the Roman engineers and architects were with their structures and buildings. After the trip to Merida, Gemma’s class had a scavenger hunt throughout the “antigua”, or old, part of Cáceres. This trip was exciting because we got to see a few different types of museums and we were able to finally take a look at the beautiful Cathedral.  The weekend was when the festivities began.  The fair is looked at as a holiday in Cáceres and the locals take it extremely seriously. My favorite part of the fair was the food and the “casetas” that were set up to dance and have a few drinks with friends. After the fair was over, reality set back in and crunch time to finish homework, began. I believe that this trip benefits everyone in various aspects. There were specific activities for the nursing students, teaching students and the multiple different types of architecture that benefit me as an engineering student. I had an amazing time here in Cáceres and I cannot wait to come back.
