Week 3 by Lisa Filiczkowski

This past week we visited a town called Merida Spain was a place that is straight out of history books. We witnessed aqua ducts and ancient roman ruins. They were just amazing from the historical wall to the theater that was so beautifully preserved threw the many centuries. You get to walk around and touch some of these stones you truly get the feeling like you are sitting right there back in time. Stepping into the gladiator pit was almost a view taken straight out of a movie scene. The two amazing finds are right next to each other and you will learn about some of the history that has been taught about these two places while you are visiting. This weekend we decided to take a personal trip back to Salamanca. This time we explored the city and took in a museum in the cathedral. There was a device that you get when you pay to get in to see all the rooms that tells you the story or background to the items in each room. This was a place that I highly recommend visiting if you get the chance and bring plenty of film as you can take photos but with no flash. We also had an opportunity to see many other parts of the providence especially the parks where there was many statues throughout the city. Plaza Mayor essentially is the University which I discovered on this visit. On the weekends as you walk down the streets you can see groups of students who created a band playing for free…..well for coins or whatever. One thing is for sure if you plan to visit here you must book your rooms way in advance as weekends fill up quick as you will see the city becomes more alive with each passing day until Sunday.
